CLEF 2022 CheckThat! Lab: Advancing the Detection of Misinformation and Disinformation in Social Media

The CLEF 2022 CheckThat! Lab is scheduled to take place from September 5-8, 2022, and will focus on advancing the detection of misinformation and disinformation in social media. The lab is a part of the CLEF 2022 conference, which aims to bring together researchers and industry experts from around the world to advance the state-of-the-art in the field of information access and retrieval.Team QCRI was one of the main organizers of the event. The CLEF CheckThat! Lab has been running since 2018 and has become a prominent venue for research in the detection of fake news and disinformation. The lab offered three tasks, each of which focuses on a different aspect of the problem. Task 1 focuses on the identification of check-worthy claims in social media, while Task 2 focuses on the verification of the factuality of the claims, and Task 3 focuses on Fake News Detection. The results of the lab will be presented at the CLEF 2022 conference, which will be held virtually this year. The conference provides an excellent opportunity for researchers and industry experts to present their work and engage in discussions about the latest developments in the field.
