QCRI presents at the 30th ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM)

Dr. Preslav Nakov and Dr. Giovanni Da San Martino presented in CIKM. They provided an overview of the newest research in the area of fact-checking , disinformation, “fake news”, propaganda, and detecting fake news. This effort comes as a result of the rise of online platforms that facilitate the rapid sharing of information and news. During the presentation, the researchers also highlighted the important elements involved in fact-checking such as “check-worthiness estimation, spotting previously fact-checked claims, stance detection, source reliability estimation, detection of persuasion techniques, and detecting malicious users in social media.”
